Helping at Home

Here are some tips and ideas for things you can do to help your child(ren) review and maintain skills at home!

READ, READ, READ
*students should be reading their library book each night
ask questions after reading such as:  Who is the main character?  Where/When did the story take place? What happened in the beginning, middle and end of the story?

*Practice sight words regularly.  There is a link below to some additional resources you could use.

Spelling:
*Use the letter tiles that were sent home to focus on letter sounds when practicing spelling words.  Say individual sounds and have your child put together the correct letter tiles to spell the words.

*If writing the words is something you'd like to do, this would be great handwriting practice!  Again, the focus should be on the individual sounds and making words using those sounds.

Math:
*Complete the HW side of the math facts sheet.  You do not need to time them.
*Cut apart and use the flashcards to help with math fact fluency
*Review papers that are not stapled in the weekly folder.  These can be used as a way to review and correct errors.
