Mrs. Hunter's Welcome Page!
Welcome to STEM!!
My name is Kimberly Hunter and I am the K-3 STEM teacher here at Maxwell Elementary. This is my 28th year teaching in McDuffie County. Most of my years have been at Thomson Elementary School, where I’ve taught kindergarten and 3rd grade. I am thrilled to be teaching in this brand new building, and ecstatic about my role as the STEM teacher.
My Education background includes the following:
I received a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration (Paine College), my teacher certification (Augusta State University), a Master's degree in Educational Leadership (Troy State University), and Ed. Specialist in Teaching and Learning (Augusta State University). I am a certified Teacher Support Specialist, a mentor to new/aspiring teachers, and an active member of MAE/GAE/NEA. I have served on numerous committees, including PBIS, Leadership Team, Grade Chair for kindergarten and 3rd grade, Spelling Bee judge, and School Council (composed of staff representatives and community stakeholders). I am Gifted Certified and recently became a Level 1 Google Certified Educator. Last summer I earned my certification as a PLTW (Project Lead the Way) Launch/STEM teacher.
My husband Roy (Chris) and I reside in Lincolnton, GA, and are owners of Roy C. Hunter Trucking, Inc. Together our family consists of five children: Roy II (LaShay), Jasmine (Jafabian), Brittany, Chandler (CJ), and Kendall.
Our family is growing.....we are expecting TWO grands this year!!
Get ready for an exciting year in STEM! I am very excited to have this opportunity to be your teacher this school year. I look forward to learning and growing with you. Through hands-on and engaging lessons, this class will definitely STEM-ulate and enrich your minds.
