Parent and Family Engagement

Parents and families are our partners! Family engagement is the number one factor in student academic success.

Parent and Family Engagement is an ongoing process that increases active participation, communication, and collaboration between our families, our school, and our community with the goal of educating the EVERY child to ensure student achievement and success.

The Georgia Department of Education’s Parent Engagement Program ensures that Title I, Part A parental involvement regulations are met with meaningful and strategic actions to build parent capacity as mandated by the Every Student Succeeds Act  (ESSA). Schools and districts must ensure that strong strategies are in place to: 1) build capacity to involve parents/stakeholders in an effective partnership with the school; and 2) share and support high student academic achievement.

At MES we welcome families to be a partner with us to improve student academic achievement through the following activities:
  • Annual meetings
  • Conferences
  • E-mail communications
  • Phone calls
  • Parent workshops and activities
  • Family nights
  • Volunteering
  • Parent advisory meetings
  • Open Houses
  • Home-School Connections Newsletter

We have a wonderful Parent Resource CenterMax's Den- in our library. It is open from 8:00 am- 3:00 pm and later by request. We invite parents to visit during school hours to pick up Title I Information and to check out resources that can help  support student learning at home. There are also computers parents can use as needed.

We also host and invite parents to attend several events throughout the year to provide support with understanding the curriculum and how to help at home. We offer parent-teacher conferences a minimum of twice annually but are happy to meet with families at any scheduled time throughout the school year. Our school website includes Title I event flyers and newsletters. There are many things offered at our Title I school …WELCOME!

Georgia’s Resolution and Statement on Parent Engagement The Georgia State Board of Education and the Georgia Department of Education recognize that parents, schools, and communities must be viewed as equals with shared responsibilities, but schools must take the lead in developing and sustaining these collaborative partnerships to ensure maximum effectiveness. Each partner, however, has a role to play, as clearly outlined in the resolution and statement, and local school officials are strongly urged to use them as a guide in developing local school and district plans and policies.
